**November 4, 2022 – Chino, California ** Plans for a Ruben S Ayala High School Spirit Rally were postponed recently after the Ayala Administration became aware of a “disturbing text message” threatening the safety of students and staff on campus.
CVUSD Risk Management Department and local authorities have investigated the matter, with law enforcement officers determining the threat to be non-credible at this time (i.e. it will not be carried out). In addition to the rally’s postponement, Risk Management has arranged for additional security to be on campus and has requested increased law enforcement patrols to monitor the school.
This is just another incident in a chain of events with ongoing threats to the safety of students at Ruben S Ayala High School. Last year, a message was written on the walls of the boys’ bathroom near the science building in November of last year, news of which was spread via social media and word of mouth, prompting a large majority (50%) of students to not attend school. Another, in which two students ignited fireworks during lunch period two weeks after (Friday, November 19). Sounds from the discharge were mistaken for gunshots, prompting a campus-wide lockdown and 10 law enforcement vehicles and a helicopter in the initial response.
And they are not alone. Just this week, a female teacher, and a 15-year-old female student, were killed and seven students were injured in a shooting at Central Visual and Performing Arts High School in St. Louis, Mo. Incidents like these are on the rise and more than a third of U.S. homes with children have guns. The following gun-related incidents in schools have been reported for 2022 so far:
Number of Injuries & Deaths Related to School-Related Gun Violence in 2022

As gun owners, we have a key role to play in fighting America’s gun violence crisis in schools. We can build a safer future for all of us—if we band together and take action to protect our communities, help law enforcement, and preserve our rights. There are an estimated 4.6 million kids in the U.S. that live in a household with unlocked, loaded guns. The gun culture can prevent gun violence while also supporting the Second Amendment. “Gun Owners for Safety” unites hunters, sport shooters, and collectors who want to ensure that all gun owners take part in active responsibility for storing firearms securely. With gun ownership comes responsibility. All gun owners should take certain steps to ensure that their guns are used safely, and stored securely and that they don’t end up in the wrong hands.
