Is it easy to move a cannon safe?

Most full-size Cannon safes are not easy to move without planning, equipment, and help. Their steel construction, fire-resistant materials, heavy doors, and dimensions can make them difficult to control, especially around stairs, corners, and narrow doorways.

Before attempting a move, check the weight and dimensions of your safe. Remove firearms, ammunition, documents, shelves, and contents. Store those items in a secure location. Never move a loaded gun safe, since the added weight and shifting contents can increase the risk of injury or damage.

Measure the route from the location to the moving vehicle and from the vehicle to the new placement area. Check doors, hallways, gates, stairs, elevators, ceiling clearances, slopes, and tight turns. Protect floors, walls, trim, and furniture before work begins.

Professional safe movers are recommended. They use equipment designed for heavy objects and understand weight distribution, tipping risks, stair movement, and floor protection. When requesting a quote, provide the model, weight, dimensions, pickup location, destination, number of stairs, and any access restrictions.

Do not rely on household dollies, ramps, or untrained helpers. A safe can shift suddenly and cause injury or property damage. Never place hands or feet beneath a safe during movement.

Once the safe reaches its new location, confirm that it is level, opens correctly, and rests on a surface capable of supporting its loaded weight. Follow the installation instructions and anchor it when recommended.

Moving a Cannon Safe is possible, but it should be treated as a moving project, not a routine household task.
